Primary Function:
To assist teachers in providing for the individual needs of the student in order for each student to achieve his/her maximum academic and social potential.
Qualifications:
- Hold and associate’s degree from an accredited college, sixty semester hours of college credit, or have a passing score on a Parapro assessment test.
- Be 18 years of age.
- Demonstrate good basic reading, writing and computation skills.
- Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn to operate and maintain a wide variety of instructional equipment.
- Have demonstrated the personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, school personnel and members of the community.
Physical Effort Activities:
Must have ability to lift and/or carry children
Reports To: Principal and/or Special Education Teacher.
Performance Responsibilities:
- To comply with contracted work hour schedules.
- To comply with assignments and extracurricular duties outlined by the teacher/principal.
- To comply with all school board policies and state laws relative to special education classroom operations.
- To assist the teacher in implementing daily and long-range lesson plans.
- To utilize planning time effectively.
- To assist the teacher in the preparation of classroom materials.
- To assist the teacher in providing for the individual needs, abilities, and interest of the students.
- To assume a fair share of the classroom duties as outlined by the classroom teacher.
- To exhibit the necessary physical, mental, and emotional ability to execute duties as outlined by the teacher and principal.
- To perform other duties as assigned by the principal and/or special education teacher.
Terms of Employment:
The length of the contract will be determined by the Carroll County School Board. The salary will be from the Teacher Aide Salary Scale. This position is based on a 7 hour per day, 182 day contract. Coditions of the contratc will be prorated accordingly for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. Also, this position will be for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year.
Evaluation:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the school board policy and administrative regulations for the evaluation of classified personnel. |
