Beginning the 2026-2027 School Year
The Reading Specialist will support all PreK-5 staff in the implementation of the basal reading program as well as reading in the content area and supplemental and intervention programs. The specialist will work directly with teachers providing classroom-based demonstrations, collaboration, giving one-on-one support, and facilitating teacher inquiry and related professional development. The Specialist will focus on enhancing teachers’ ability to provide instruction that builds students’ sense of engagement in the ownership of learning.
QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree in Reading
REPORTS TO: Principal, Title I Supervisor

Reading Culture
The Title I Reading Specialist/Coach will:
- Facilitate implementation of the basal reading series and supplemental program
- Protect the 90 minute reading instruction in K-5 (To include reading in the content area)
- Monitor differentiated and small group instruction in PreK-5 and analyze data with teachers to drive their instruction
- Facilitate grade level meetings
- Foster the lifelong love of reading.
Teaching and Learning
The Title I Reading Specialist/Coach will:
- Facilitate and support the basal reading program
- Support teachers with strategies and materials needed for whole group, differentiated and small group instruction
- Conduct Grade level meetings
- Model/Observe lessons
- Train new teachers and support staff in basal reading series and the supplemental programs
- Facilitate and support teachers using WFTB
- Assist ESL teachers/tutors by helping schedule testing, gather appropriate materials, and suggest strategies for instruction
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The length of the contract will be determined by the Carroll County School Board. The salary will be from the Teacher Salary Scale.
EVALUATION:
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of licensed personnel.
